Bonnie Lai, PhD

As General Manager, Lumere, Bonnie provides strategic vision for the business unit and advises health system executives on how to achieve the best clinical outcomes at an optimal cost. Since GHX acquired Lumere in January 2020, Bonnie has co-led efforts to bring together the capabilities of each organization to provide health systems what they need to build clinically integrated supply chains and thrive in a value-based environment.

Previously, she served as Vice President of Product and Operations at Lumere where she was responsible for the customer experience, including Lumere’s suite of technology solutions, research, customer support and advisory services. She has shepherded important initiatives such as expanding Lumere’s analytics coverage to include a growing list of med/surg products and device cost per case at the physician level, facilitating Cloud ERP implementation success and launching new consulting services. Under her leadership, Lumere’s Category Optimization solution was recognized as a Chicago Innovation Award winner for success in bolstering evidence-based decision making in healthcare. Prior, Bonnie served as the General Manager & Vice President of Lumere’s Pharmacy Solutions, developing a business line to extend Lumere’s medical device capabilities to drugs.

Prior to Lumere, Bonnie was a Principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a management consulting firm. There she served clients across the healthcare industry (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, payers, providers).

Bonnie started her career as a scientific researcher. She received her PhD in biomedical engineering from Duke University, where she was a National Science Foundation fellow. Her research focused on HIV prevention. Bonnie received her bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University in biomedical engineering and art theory and practice.
