The AHRMM Annual Conference & Exhibition was buzzing yesterday, as droves of attendees took to the show floor to hear about the Cost, Quality and Outcomes (CQO) movement and to learn about solutions to help advance their own CQO efforts. With more exhibitors at this event than in the past several years, it looks like there are plenty of organizations taking aim on providing new ways to solve some of healthcare’s most important problems.

In the GHX booth (#411, if you’re interesting in stopping by!), our Mobile Operating Room (OR) was packed as groups of 15-17 people came see Case Xpert – our new implantable device management and tracking solution – in action. Case Xpert is being demo’ed at AHRMM thanks to the efforts of our Industry Advisory Board, which is made up of provider and device manufacturer organizations and has helped GHX solve some of the most challenging problems in the OR. Attendees saw Case Xpert team members schedule cases, work with manufacturer reps and nurses to reach agreement on products that would be used in a case and track the products used in real time. The solution allowed teams to capture product data that will then populate product information in other systems in the hospital and OR alike.

At the end of the demos, attendees were in agreement that it’s essential that we begin tracking products in the OR – to better understand what’s used and what’s wasted and to gain better visibility to our OR results. This becomes a fundamental piece of the reporting that will need to happen with healthcare reform. And it feels like AHRMM attendees are ready to get started tracking – and understanding – what’s being used in their ORs.
