Excellence in Product Data Management - Provider

This award recognizes a provider organization that has demonstrated exceptional commitment to clean, synchronized data and is reaping the benefits through reduced errors and improved contract alignment.

Prerequisite

  • Must be a GHX NuVia® user

Criteria considered

Note: Nominees are not required to meet all these criteria, nor are they limited to these. This criteria defines the range of accomplishment considered for this award. 

  • Low percentage of purchase order exceptions (part number, UOM, etc.)
  • Maximizing value of content management, for example:
    • Strong control/limits on non-file spend as a result of content management strategy
    • Commitment to ensuring a source of truth (item master/virtual industry item master) for the organization’s item and pricing data with integration to the electronic health record
    • Ongoing item master accuracy ensured through appropriate systems and processes
    • Data governance policies established
    • Understanding and/or use of global data standards (e.g., GTINs and data from the Global UDI Database (GUDID), delivered via NuVia content management system)
    • Use of normalized descriptions, classifications, etc.
  • Product data synchronization with trading partners
  • Strategic execution - how content management strategy helps achieve organizational objectives

Nominations should include supporting documentation whenever possible.

  • Wake Forest Baptist Health is leveraging its costing and decision support platform, in conjunction with the GHX Clinical ConneXionSM solution, to achieve its value-based care goals, most notably the ability to understand cost per case.

  • The health system has revolutionized the quality of supply charging documentation through use of cloud-based technology to facilitate effective data sharing between supply chain management systems and the electronic medical record.

  • By integrating and providing enriched data through GHX Clinical ConneXion, Wake Forest Baptist Health has enabled a more comprehensive way to evaluate new products and their implication on overall financial and clinical performance. Furthermore, the health system has improved charge capture, process efficiencies, nursing satisfaction and patient safety, while reducing clinical variation and one time supply charges.
