BRUSSELS, Belgium. – 5 March 2015 – Hologic, a developer of diagnostic products, medical imaging systems and surgical products, has successfully connected with GHX, providing its customers in the UK with the opportunity to trade with Hologic electronically and help ensure it is compliant with the recent eProcurement mandate from the UK's Department of Health. With this implementation, Hologic joins the GHX trading community – the largest global trading community in healthcare – and harnesses the benefits of eCommerce and electronic data interchange (EDI).
The GHX solution will provide a platform for the transaction of electronic business documents including Purchase Orders (POs), Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) and Invoices. Document types 850, 855, 856 and 810 are supported by the GHX Exchange. Connection to the GHX Exchange enables medical manufacturers to benefit from a single point of connection with the entire GHX Community. Adoption of the Exchange brings multiple benefits, including increased operational efficiency for both suppliers and their customers, visibility across the supply chain, and fewer costly, discrepant order lines.
Kris De Backer, Project Sponsor at Hologic, explains the rationale behind the partnership. "This step allows us to offer our customers an improved level of support and faster response times. By automating our core customer service operations we are becoming a more efficient and effective organization and are able to spend more time on serving our current and future customers' needs.
"Among these is a need to comply with the UK Department of Health's eProcurement Strategy (2014), which mandates the use of a PEPPOL (Pan European Public Procurement Online) 'access point' for the transition of business documents between the NHS and its suppliers. With GHX in the process of complying with the mandates set out in the Strategy, we are future-proofing our business processes.
"It is our aspiration to have over 90 per cent of our orders automatically routed into our ERP system. The UK provides us a testing ground to prove the partnership and strive towards our vision, which may in time include other geographies in Europe."
Marcus Schiewe, Head of Supplier Sales, GHX Europe, added, "With this project, GHX is able to expand its supplier offering to the NHS and private hospitals in the UK market. With over 50 per cent of NHS acute care facilities already part of the GHX community, we are pleased to onboard Hologic and expand our supplier offering."
