Peppol and the Peppol Network for Healthcare

Requirements for Suppliers and Providers

Requirements for Suppliers

To enable the compliant exchange of transactions over the Peppol eDelivery Network, suppliers to the NHS in England must have assigned GS1 Global Location Numbers (GLNs) to their organisation (Legal entity used for their Peppol ID) and significant locations.

Suppliers must also be capable of receiving purchase orders, acknowledging purchase order receipt using order responses, and sending invoices, all carrying GS1 GLNs and, where available, Global Trade Identification Numbers (GTINs).

Requirements for Providers

All NHS England providers must have assigned and communicated their Level 1 Global Location Number (GLN used for their Peppol ID) and all relevant ‘Ship To’ and ‘Invoice To’ GLNs. Adoption of GLNs is required so that suppliers can reliably identify their trading partners’ locations.

Providers must also be capable of sending purchase orders and receiving order responses and invoices.

In England, GS1 is working with providers to help set up GLNs. You can find out more in this GS1 guide:

How to… Create and use Global Location Numbers (GLNs)
