Over the past few years, it has become an annual tradition for our GHX team in Cambridge to support a local charity. This year the Cambridge team has decided to run a Cambridge office Table Tennis tournament, with official in house ranking and trophies to be won too.
Tomas Bojda, a member of the Cambridge office 'Social Committee' has created a Just Giving page to make donations and tournament entry fees a little smoother and easier. He adds. "We've already reached our target of £300 and even have a few pennies more (£310.00 + £75.00 Gift Aid). We'd love it if we could give even more"' "The charity we have decided to support this year is ACT – Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust. Many of us, our families and friends have needed, or will need to use, Addenbrooke’s services at some point in our lives,".
ACT believes that every patient deserves the best possible care available. They provide funding for the extras, that are needed to make a difference for patients at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals. The hospitals have earned the reputation of being among the world's best academic healthcare organisations, and ACT's aim is to support those achievements by raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.
ACT also provides seed funding for early stage research projects, supporting the hospitals' clinical academics, keen to embark on a research career. The funding then often leverages more ambitious research funding opportunities, and as such can be an essential component in identifying global cures and advances in treatment.
