WESTMINSTER, Colo.— May 16, 2005 — Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX) has announced the recipients of the 2005 GHXcellence awards, honoring those organizations that have increased collaboration and efficiencies across the entire healthcare supply chain. The awards are granted to those organizations that best met specific criteria, including compliance with standards of performance mutually agreed upon by suppliers and providers participating in GHX’s electronic trading exchange. The 2005 GHXcellence Award recipients are:
Healthcare Provider of the Year: HCA
Most Improved Healthcare Provider: BJC HealthCare and Adventist West (tie)
Healthcare Supplier of the Year: Baxter Healthcare Corporation
Most Improved Supplier: Medtronic, Inc.
Healthcare Provider Awards
The GHXcellence Healthcare Provider Awards are based on five criteria that have been proven to help hospitals and other providers achieve value through their use of eCommerce:
- Number of suppliers the organization is connected to via GHX
- Percentage increase in connected trading partners
- Percentage of business conducted electronically with those suppliers
- Product data synchronization with suppliers
- Percentage of supply chain processes automated from requisition to payment
HCA received the honor for the second year in a row, ranking highest in four out of five categories. The Most Improved honorees were recognized for the progress made in those areas, with BJC HealthCare placing first in the use of electronic invoices and second for data synchronization with suppliers, and Adventist West recording the largest increase in the number of electronic trading partners and its utilization of eCommerce.
Healthcare Supplier Awards
The Supplier of the Year and Most Improved Supplier Awards were judged on criteria identified by hospitals as critical to expanding the amount of business they conduct electronically with vendors. This year’s Most Improved Supplier, Medtronic, Inc., fully supports all 23 GHXcellence standards related to the purchase order (PO) to purchase order acknowledgement (POA) process, as well as the ability of providers to place complex orders, such as consignment orders electronically, and has made additional Medtronic divisions available to providers through GHX.
Baxter Healthcare Corporation was named Supplier of the Year for the second year in a row, followed by Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc. as a close second. Baxter’s accomplishments in 2004 included increasing connectivity with more customers, shortening the time it takes to respond to POAs, and assisting customers with cleansing and correcting their product item masters by frequently updating data in the GHX AllSourceÔ content repository. In the past two years, the percentage of Baxter orders coming through GHX has increased five fold.
