Global Healthcare Exchange Selects i2 to Accelerate Development of Advanced Electronic Catalog Functionality
WESTMINSTER, Colo.—June 17, 2002 — Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) has selected i2 Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ITWO), the leading provider of value chain management solutions, to help accelerate development of advanced functionality for its industry standard AllSource™ catalog. As an Internet-based trading exchange that enables hospitals to purchase products from multiple suppliers through a single point of connectivity, GHX has built the AllSource catalog to allow suppliers to publish, normalize, verify and maintain catalog information. Hospital members can conduct transactions and receive confirmation or error notifications in real time. With the addition of i2 Discovery Knowledge Manager, GHX will offer advanced functionality including publishing, subscription, and syndication services for product data, rich content and enhanced search capabilities.

“i2 is providing GHX and its members with industry-leading software solutions that are designed to be configurable and customizable,” says GHX President Mike Mahoney. “By working with i2, we can accelerate the delivery of the benefits of e-commerce to all of our members, from suppliers and distributors, to hospitals and integrated delivery networks (IDNs).”

i2 Discovery Knowledge Manager includes Content Exchange for publishing and managing marketplace catalog product content, as well as market-leading technology for knowledge management, browsing, and searching product data. Buyers can benefit from advance searching and more robust content with which to make buying decisions. Because the software allows for customization by users, GHX will be able to offer both management and syndication services for product data, rich content and enhanced search capabilities. For example, a distributor can choose to subscribe to a particular manufacturer’s product data (with the manufacturer’s approval), or a provider can select to view only its contracted items, creating a syndicated customized catalog view.

With syndication capabilities, GHX will be able to more easily share approved product data with other businesses and organizations participating in data exchange via online marketplaces. “From the beginning, we realized that GHX needed to involve as many members of its supply chain as possible and develop real solutions that reduce the costs and inefficiencies inherent in the healthcare supply chain,” adds Mahoney.

“Through the use of i2’s Discovery Knowledge Manager, GHX can create an all-inclusive platform across which multiple players can conduct business, and implement the adoption of industry-wide data standards, another key element to the success of healthcare e-procurement,” said Ray Greer, president, i2 Global Network Solutions and Services.

i2 Discovery Knowledge Manager is also designed to allow suppliers to provide rich content, such as photos, specification sheets, and even training videos related to their products, which is particularly important in the highly technical and regulated medical and surgical products industry. As new information related to these products becomes available, suppliers will be able to update the information provided to customers via GHX.
