Global Healthcare Exchange and Lawson Software join forces to integrate healthcare e-procurement
|
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 6, 2001 - Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) and Lawson Software are partnering to bring cost-effective, integrated electronic procurement to healthcare organizations. The companies will integrate the lawson.insight™ e-Procurement Service with GHX's healthcare exchange to provide an Internet procurement solution that streamlines purchasing processes and reduces costs without impacting quality of care.
GHX and Lawson are committed to launching an initial pilot site in the second quarter of 2001. Lawson will provide all installation, training and basic customer support; GHX will provide integration assistance and ongoing marketplace connection support services.
GHX, together with providers, suppliers and standardization bodies, is building a connected, verified industry catalog, maintained through GHX's deep connectivity with supplier members. This alliance highlights GHX's focus on maximizing healthcare provider value. Through this relationship GHX and Lawson create a more effective end-to-end user experience based on combined expertise.
The lawson.insight e-Procurement Service will connect directly to this single-source pipeline and integrate it with a large number of internal software systems, enabling real-time updates for purchase orders, price quotes, order confirmations, order changes, sales history, shipment tracking, invoicing, payments, reconciliation, credits and rebates. This connection provides quality improvements as well as extra cost savings and improved service for hospitals.
"As a result of this new alliance, hospital members can leverage their enterprise application investment and receive maximum value from an integrated e-procurement system," explained Mike Mahoney, GHX's president. "The resulting increased adoption of GHX among hospitals means acceleration of global industry standards that will benefit both healthcare providers and suppliers."
With this GHX connection, as suppliers update pricing, product and other information, hospitals' Lawson systems will instantly utilize this data. Hospitals then create purchase orders, query for product details, pricing and availability - and receive responses directly from suppliers.
"There's no doubt that trading exchanges bring significant value to the healthcare supply chain," said Jay Coughlan, president and chief operating officer, Lawson Software. "Lawson's e-Procurement Service greatly enhances that value by providing direct connectivity to leading exchanges and suppliers for online purchasing, and by integrating those transactions with Lawson's enterprise applications. It's that integration that allows us to fully automate the purchasing cycle and streamline the entire process."
