Leading Global B2B Marketplace Establishes World Headquarters in Colorado
|
WESTMINSTER, Colo., February 1, 2001 - Another big win for Colorado's Convergence Corridor: Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX), the leading business-to-business exchange for healthcare, has established its world headquarters in Westminster, with plans to occupy up to 80,000 square feet of office space and employ more than 250 people in the metro Denver area.
GHX growth will occur in phases. By November 2001, GHX will move from its current 29,000 square feet of office space at The Westmoor Technology Park to a new building in the same park, where it will lease 41,000 square feet, with rights to an additional 41,000 square feet at the same location.
Since October of last year, GHX has grown from 98 to 150 personnel and expects to add more than 50 new employees in 2001, primarily senior-level engineers, developers and project managers.
GHX combines the dynamic pace of a start-up with the strength and stability of the most-trusted companies in healthcare. GHX was formed on March 30, 2000 by Johnson & Johnson, GE Medical Systems, Baxter International Inc., Abbott Laboratories and Medtronic Inc., and was first headquartered in Chicago. On October 2, 2000, GHX acquired Westminster-based CentriMed, a software company focused on healthcare procurement. CentriMed had 90 employees at the time.
"The unique lifestyle opportunities of this location, combined with the skills of the people who live in the Convergence Corridor, make Colorado the ideal location for GHX's headquarters," explains Cheryl Flury, director of marketing. "We thought it was important to build our business in an area that understood convergence - in our case the convergence of technology, supply chain management and the healthcare world."
In addition to moving its headquarters to Westminster, GHX has demonstrated its commitment to Colorado by hiring Denver-based BRW LeGrand to handle the company's national public relations.
