Centura Health to Reduce Purchasing Costs by Using Lawson Software to Connect to Global Healthcare Exchange
Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM) 39th Annual Conference and Exhibition Booth 713

DENVER, Colo.-July 30, 2001-Centura Health will soon connect to Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX), a healthcare trading exchange, through Lawson Software, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions. Centura Health is the first healthcare system to announce that it plans to connect to GHX through Lawson Software. Centura Health, Colorado’s largest healthcare system, joined Lawson and GHX in this venture in order to reduce its supply chain costs, on the heels of a $100 million financial turnaround.

Centura hopes to use the resulting purchasing efficiencies to reduce overhead costs. "Working with vendors such as GHX and Lawson to lower costs allows us to invest in new equipment and resources for direct patient care," explains Elaine Callas, chief information officer for Centura Health.

Centura's GHX connection will make the healthcare system's purchasing processes more efficient. GHX's supplier-integrated catalog offers Centura real-time information and updates relating to purchase orders, price quotes, order confirmations, order changes, sales history, shipment tracking, invoicing, payments, reconciliation, credits and rebates. "Connection to GHX through Lawson will enable Centura to route requisitions and purchase orders to the appropriate managers for approval and ensure accurate and timely invoice reconciliation," said Mike Mahoney, GHX's president.

Thanks to the GHX connection through its new Lawson e-Procurement Service, Centura will also receive maximum value from both its existing and new investments in Lawson Software. "This joint offering is a step toward providing seamless integration and connectivity that automates 360 degree supply chain processes in a secure and supported environment," said Gary Peterson, Lawson Software's product manager for supply chain solutions.
